The Jewels

Thanks to the holograms technic applied to the archaeological research it’s possible to tell History through the objects: thanks to a play of refractivity of the projected light, we can admire some of the jewels and valuables found in the excavations.
The excavations directed by Giuseppe Maggi in 1980 let believe that the inhabitants of the ancient Herculaneum, coming the devastating eruption, didn’t flee towards Naples, but they huddled close together in the boathouses on the beach area or on the same beach. Human bones were found perfectly preserved, were about men and women of any social class, who rushed clutching their money, objects and jewelry. Vesuvian women preferred golden jewels and the gold-working art was a prominent activity of the previous year before the eruption. Jewelry increased in production owing to consolidation of trades in Orient, from which they imported precious stones and gems.
